About Course

Jazz sometimes has the illusion that you need to read several theory books before you are “qualified” to play a tune.

The truth is that you do not need to know what a super locrian scale is to be able to improvise over a standard; learning too much theory can actually be counter intuitive in the beginning.

However, you do need to know a few fundamental concepts to help you get the most from your jazz journey.

I have frequently noticed a common reoccurring gaps in the knowledge of those who are new to jazz.

So, I decided to put together Practical Theory for the Jazz Guitarist to help you understand the fundamental theory techniques to make learning jazz easier.

Please note that this is not a jazz theory dictionary – instead this course fully focuses on the most important and widely used jazz theory concepts such as the harmonised major scale and ii-V’s.

So, if you are wanting to learn jazz and want to be confident in the fundamental building blocks of jazz theory, then this course is for you.
